About the Event
As the largest island in the Mediterranean, Sicily promises more sand, sunshine and secret anchorages than almost anywhere else. The Aeolian Islands – seven sub-tropical isles and scores of volcanic specks – are Sicily’s biggest yachting draw. Italian A-listers and humble fisherfolk sail atop crystalline waters suffused with seismic bubbles. Both enjoy platters of seafood spaghetti served on volcanic black-sand beaches. Sail in and join the Sailing Munich Team.
Sicily has an area of 25,426 km² and is the largest island belonging to Italy. It is separated from the Italian mainland by the Strait of Messina. In the north it is bordered by the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the east by the Ionian Sea and in the east and southwest by the Strait of Sicily. Sicily has a largely mountainous landscape, and is the home of Mount Etna - the tallest, largest and most active volcano in Europe. The north and east coasts are made up of high cliffs with numerous bays and sandy beaches. Going south the land is flatter and the beaches become longer. The coastline measures a total length of 1152 km. The capital city of Sicily is Palermo, which lies on a bay on the north coast. The city has many historic attractions, important church buildings, palaces, squares and museums. Other major cities are Catania, Messina and Syracuse.
The sailing season in Sicily begins in April and ends in October. Sicily has a typically Mediterranean climate, the summers are hot and dry and the winters are mild and wet. The average temperature in coastal areas is around 26 °C in summer and 10 °C in winter. In temperatures inland are slightly cooler.

What is the reputation of the sailing school you are considering?
Check out reviews on Google and Instagram. Rather than be told by the sailing school that they are great, find out from the students themselves.
Will The Ultimate Sicily Around Trip itinerary change?
Our number one priority is to ensure that we have safe and happy guests onboard our sailing course. With this in mind, we may need to change the itinerary for a variety of reasons including weather, port availability and guest experience.
What are the sleeping arrangements?
You can also have a cabin to yourself (one double bed to yourself) but you would need to pay a single supplement (50% extra). Alternatively, you can choose to share with another solo passenger (of the same gender).
What is the food and drink situation?
Food and drink is not included. Our yacht is equipped with a kitchenette including a gas stove, fridge, oven and kettle. You will need to bring your own food and drink prior to boarding the yacht. We have several Supermarket in different villages and cities we will visit. This way you can pick out exactly the food you'll prefer for lunch at sea. In the evenings you'll have a wide variety of restaurant options. Sicily has delicious, locally-grown food, and our skipper will be happy to recommend the perfect restaurant for you.
Are bed linen and towels included?
Yes they are, however the towels are for indoor/shower use only – you’ll need to bring your own beach towel for outdoors.
When does the trip start and finish?
Check in is from 3pm in Porto Rosa Marina (Tonnarella) on saturday. The tour ends in Sciacca on saturday. We ask all our passengers to disembark by 9am to allow us time to clean the yacht before the next departure. Detailed directions to the marina will be emailed to you when you book your tour. If you’re unable to make it to check-in on time, you can easily catch up with your ship at your first destination.
Are there any local payments that I need to be aware of?
A local payment of round 30-50 Euros per person is payable onboard. This payment incorporates port fees, fuel and tourist taxes throughout the week and is subject to change.
Can I get my certification at the end of the course ?
Yes, at the end of the trip, you will have 250 miles logged and you will be able to apply for the certification. The certification is paid separately, according to the needs of each student. Check the prices here.
For those interested, the theoretical and practical exams are given on the last day of the trip.
