FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO EXPLORE THE BAHAMAS?
The Bahamas, particularly the Exumas, are best experienced by sea. With over 365 cays and islands, many of which are uninhabited, a private yacht is the only way to reach the most pristine beaches and hidden "blue holes." Our expeditions focus on the Exuma Cays, where the water is so clear and shallow that it creates a spectrum of blues found nowhere else on Earth.
IS THE WATER REALLY THAT SHALLOW?
Yes, the Bahamas are famous for "skinny water" navigation. This requires a high level of skipper expertise and constant depth monitoring. We use modern vessels with shallow drafts—perfectly suited for these conditions—allowing us to anchor in spots that look like private swimming pools. If you are interested in learning, this is the world's best classroom for pilotage and reading water depth by color.
WILL WE SEE THE FAMOUS SWIMMING PIGS AND NURSE SHARKS?
Absolutely. Our route includes the iconic stop at Big Major Cay to meet the swimming pigs and a visit to Compass Cay, where you can safely swim with friendly Nurse Sharks. Because we are on our own schedule, we aim to arrive at these spots during the quietest times of the day, ensuring your interaction with the local wildlife is personal and stress-free.
HOW DO WE REACH THE MARINA IN THE BAHAMAS?
Our expeditions typically depart from Nassau, which is a major international hub with direct flights from the USA (Miami/New York), London, and several European cities. From Nassau International Airport (NAS), it’s a short taxi ride to the marina. We coordinate your arrival so you can transition from the airport to the turquoise sea in less than an hour.
WHAT KIND OF WEATHER SHOULD I EXPECT?
The Bahamas enjoy a tropical climate year-round. The best sailing season is from November to May, when the temperatures are perfect and the humidity is low. During this time, the trade winds are consistent, providing great sailing between the cays, followed by calm, protected anchorages for the night.
DO I NEED TO BE AN EXPERIENCED SAILOR TO JOIN?
Not at all. While the navigation in the Bahamas is technical for the captain, it is incredibly relaxing for the guests. Whether you want to take the helm and learn the art of shallow-water navigation or simply spend your days snorkeling and paddleboarding in the clearest water in the world, we adapt the experience to your pace.
