FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT MAKES THE SPORADES DIFFERENT FROM OTHER GREEK ISLANDS?

The Northern Sporades are the "Emerald Islands" of Greece. Unlike the dry, white-and-blue landscapes of the Cyclades, this region is incredibly lush, with pine forests growing right down to the water’s edge. The Meltemi wind here is also generally more manageable, providing fantastic sailing conditions without the extreme gusts found further south, making it ideal for a balanced mix of performance and relaxation.

ARE THESE THE ISLANDS WHERE "MAMMA MIA" WAS FILMED?

Yes. Skopelos is the primary filming location for the movie. During our week, we can visit the iconic church of Agios Ioannis (perched on a cliff) and the beautiful Kastani Beach. Being on a private yacht allows us to access these famous spots from the sea, avoiding the tourist buses and enjoying the views with a level of privacy that land-based visitors never experience.

WHAT ARE OUR CHANCES OF SEEING DOLPHINS AND SEALS?

The Northern Sporades house the National Marine Park of Alonissos, the largest marine protected area in Europe. It is a sanctuary for the endangered Mediterranean Monk Seal and several dolphin species. While wildlife is unpredictable, sailing through these protected, pristine waters offers some of the best opportunities in the world to encounter these animals in their natural habitat.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO SAIL IN NORTHERN GREECE?

The season runs from May to October. June and September are the "sweet spots," offering warm water, perfect sailing breezes, and fewer crowds. July and August are the warmest months and offer a more vibrant atmosphere in the ports, while May and October provide a very peaceful, authentic experience with the islands almost entirely to ourselves.

HOW DO WE GET TO THE DEPARTURE POINT IN SKIATHOS?

Skiathos has its own international airport (JSI) with direct flights from many European cities, including Munich, London, and Athens. The marina is located just a few minutes from the airport, making it one of the most convenient departure points in Greece. We handle the logistics from the moment you land, ensuring a smooth transition from the plane to the cockpit.

WILL WE BE EATING ON THE BOAT OR AT LOCAL TAVERNAS?

The Greek "Taferna" culture is a vital part of the experience. While we provide daily breakfast and light lunches onboard with fresh local ingredients, we encourage our guests to explore the waterfront tavernas for dinner. From the famous Skopelos cheese pie to fresh lobster pasta in Alonissos, the culinary discoveries are as memorable as the sailing itself.
